On Saturday 6th July with the weather slightly cooler than the scorcher from the previous June weekend, we had the pleasure of journeying down to Mount Ephraim in Kent for the wedding reception of Paul and Debbie. Set in 800 acres, this is a lovely venue! When we arrived there was a singer outside while the guests were enjoying reception drinks. We could have potentially played outside, but the weather was forecast to rain a bit (which in the end it only drizzled a tiny bit, then dried out). So we set up in the hallway! With solid floors and walls, the sound was a bit challenging. A lot of reverberation and bass frequencies! So sound check took slightly longer than normal.
First Dance
For the first dance, Paul and Debbie had chosen a popular Jason MRaz song, I Won't Give Up - which we were asked to perform. Their guests had about 20 'canon's which they fired off together showering the dance floor and the couple in coloured paper. Think the wedding photographers' photos will be awesome!
Following the first dance, we played our first live set.
Wedding Band Feedback
We've already had some really nice feedback from Paul and Debbie which reads as follows:
'Thanks Matt, We had a fantastic day. Everyone commented how great you guys were and how they didn’t want the music to end. Thanks again guys you made the evening, we look forward to seeing you at our next party when we arrange it. You guys rock, Paul and Debbie.'
Live Music and Disco
So, as usual we were down to provide live music and disco for the evening. The first live set following the first dance started at about 8pm with 2 further live sets finishing at about 11.30pm. The bride was a BIG Radiohead fan, so unusually at a wedding, we got to play Creep, not once, but twice!
The audience were a mix of ages who all seemed to love live music which was great for us. It was a great atmosphere from start to finish. We wish the happy couple all the very best for the future!
